Should I have had this as a topic of conversation on my show, or was I right to just leave it alone?

It seems to be gathering some attention now. If you listen to the 911 calls it sounds like run of the mill domestic dispute calls from two people who can't seem to get along. With the Lake County GOP chair commenting and the GOP Senate Leader as well it's gone beyond something to be dismissed.
I just listened to all the 911 calls, my eyes rolled numerous times.

Oh, and I think the biggest problem for her is the call where she called 911 and said she was the Lake County Board Chair and if her husband calls to ignore him. I'm willing to cut her a break on that one though if she had just caught her husband with another woman, lapses in judgment can be expected.

If I had just caught my husband with another woman, I would not be laughing like she was on the 911 tape. My only issue with it is when she said she was President of the Lake County Board & to ignore 911 calls from him. Aside from that, I could give a shit.

It wasn't too smart to make the Lake County Chair comment to the cops, especially these days when everything these days is recorded and reported. But does this rise to the level of malfeasance in public office?

I would say no. However, judging by "Talk of the County" in the News Sun, I'd think her future is questionable.

She is a strong personality, for better or for worse, and she's ticked off a lot of people; again for better or for worse. That can cost you your job in the public sector.

Can't judge anything by Talk of the County, nameless congregation of complainers.
I wasn't aware she ran for a 2-year term, that does change things a bit but I think she still has plenty of time to get it under control. For years she has a relied on a tight group of supporters, she can use that to rebound.
I also hear what you're saying about the call Karen, it doesn't sound like she JUST found out. I sense an attempt to try to laugh it off as no big deal (sort of like "silly men! ha ha ha"). I think she probably figured out half-way through that wasn't a smart call to be making.

She screwed up. The question is: will she lose her elected position because of it? Or, should she lose her elected position because of it?
